Directed by Jean
Yarbrough, written by George Brickner
Starring June Lockhart
and Don Porter
1946
On the eve of her
wedding, a young woman becomes increasingly convinced her family’s legendary
curse has befallen her. Mysterious murders are happening near her family home
each night and she begins to believe that she might be responsible,
transforming into a werewolf, stalking the night, then waking up the next day
with fuzzy memories of what happened.
You’d think with a title
like SHE-WOLF OF LONDON, this would be a sequel to the lesser-known Universal
werewolf movie, WEREWOLF OF LONDON. Well, it’s not! You’d also think maybe it
features an actual werewolf (or she-wolf as the case may be). Well, it doesn’t!
Spoiler alert: the secret to the mystery – our heroine’s being gaslit. Notably
she’s played by June Lockhart. Who would have guessed Lassie’s mom was up to
such hijinks in the 40s.
